What, you may ask, is a Loonakit? A Loonakit is a round fuzzy thing,
similar to a tribble, but with eyes, ears, and a poofy tail. They're
cute, they're psychotic, they want you to take them home so they
can be cuddled and coddled and so that eventually, when there are
enough of them, they can rise up and take over the world, ah
ha ha ha ha! Ah ha ha ha ha!!! AH HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!!!!!!! *ahem*
If you want to get a Loonakit, you can chose from several different
price ranges:
1. Random psychotic Loonakit - $20
Random Loonakits are just that, random. You could get any color of fur,
any sort of eyes, any shape of tail, anything! Even multiple eyes,
or ears, or tails, or other odd features. Chaos
in fuzzy form. Order one and see what you get!
2. Custom crazy Loonakit - $25
A custom crazy loonakit is a normal Loonakit (well, as normal as
Loonakits get,) but you get to chose the fur colors, the
color of eyes used and any other basic feature that doesn't require
me to invent new pattern pieces or buy special supplies. These are
made exactly the way you want them made, down to the last
detail, but don't include any add-on extras.(The snow leopard and tiger Loonakits in the gallery were
custom orders, and are good examples of the kind of thing I can do
at this level.) There is an additional charge of $5 if you want glass
eyes instead of plastic for these Loonakits.
3. Deluxe neurotic Loonakit - $30 to $50
For the deluxe neurotic Loonakit, anything goes. Your choice
of colors, your choice of eyes, plus you can add different ears,
or horns, or wings, paws or muzzles, or markings, or pretty much anything else you'd
care to name. Price will vary depending on features chosen, but
will be no more than $50 at the most. (To get an idea of the kind
of thing this price gets you, check out the Cthulakit in the gallery!)
4. Poor orphaned Loonakit - varies
Shipping is FREE on all loonakit orders. (Hey, they're light,
why not?) Loonakits are usually shipped by priority post, but
international Loonakits go by first class mail.
I accept paypal, check, or money order. To order your Loonakit, simply
e-mail me with the type and number of Loonakits desired. If you have
any questions about available colors, eye types, or anything else,
feel free to ask! There's also a FAQ at the bottom of this page
with useful Loonakit information.

Loonakit FAQ
Q. Why?
A. Because!
Q. How big are the Loonakits?
A. They're approximately 12 inches long, counting the tail, and nine
inches across, counting the ears. The bodies are about six inches
across. (That's the standard ones, some of the custom ones vary from
that.)
Q. How long does it take to get one made?
A. Well, it takes me a bit over an hour to sew one, but of course ordering
one takes longer than that, as I have to schedule them in around all
my other projects. It takes between one to three weeks, from the
time I get your payment to the time you get your Loonakit. (International
customers may take up to a month.)
Q. Can you list all the fabrics that are in stock for the custom
Loonakits?
A. I really can't. I have somewhere around 100 different kinds of
fabric here, but what's in stock changes on a weekly or even daily
basis, and it's just impossible to keep a webpage accurate like that,
given there's just me here and I have to do the sewing too.
Q. Well how do I know what colors I can pick from then?
A. Have a look through my fursuit gallery
to see various things I probably have leftovers from, if you want
a place to start. Or just ask me! With the afore-mentioned 100
different kinds of fabric, odds are I've got something that's at
least close to what you want. And if there's a color you just MUST
have that I don't have on hand, it may be possible to order it in
for you.
Q. Can I get X special feature on a random Loonakit at the cheaper price?
A. The short answer: No. The long answer: The random
Loonakits are priced that cheaply because I can use up fabrics I
otherwise wouldn't get rid of, and because I can make them in large
batches without having to worry about which colors get matched with
what. Economically speaking it costs me more in time, effort,
and often supplies to do custom things to your specifications, and
thus I have to charge more. So no.
Q. Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease?
A. Well... maybe. If what you want is something I can do fairly
easily, I might be willing to cut you a deal. Ask me, and I'll let
you know. But most special add-ons are going to cost at least a
buck or two extra.
Q. Can I get one made to look like X type of animal?/Can I get one
that looks like my fursona?
A. Sure! How much that will cost is going to vary a bit, depending
on what kind of animal you're after. If it's something I can do
without significantly altering the basic Loonakit pattern, it would
fall under the "custom crazy Loonakit" price, but if it has lots
of markings, or you want a muzzle with a nose and mouth, or anything
that's going to mean pattern making, then it'll have to be under
the "deluxe neurotic Loonakit" price.
Q. Do you have bulk discounts if I buy a lot of these?
A. Short answer: No. Long answer: Places that give bulk discounts do
so because they have assembly lines and other means of mass production
that allow them to make enough volume to make money even if their
per-item profit is mere pennies. It's just me here, and if you
order one Loonakit, I spend at least an hour on it, and if you
order fifty, it's going to be fifty hours of me sewing the things.
So trying to make money in bulk just means I'd work myself to death.
Q. Why are Loonakits so expensive? I can get a plush this size cheaper
elsewhere.
A. They're expensive because of the laws of economics that say hand-made
costs more than mass-produced. And because unique, one-of-a-kind,
quality items are worth it. For more about pricing of Loonakits
and other things, you can have a look at my mini-essay
on pricing.
